How the cartridge filter works

In various industrial sectors, especially for those who work with some type of painting and finishing – and therefore require a clean and controlled environment to carry out the process – air quality is extremely important.

Painting booths are ideal equipment for carrying out this process, as they operate through an elaborate filtration system that both prevents contaminated air from entering the booth and also sucks and filters the contaminated air remaining from the painting process, returning it clean to the environment.

One of the most important filters in this process is the cartridge filter. It's responsible for filtering the air inside the booth, eliminating paint overspray. Thanks to its efficiency and cost-effectiveness, it's one of the most widely used filters in powder coating booths. Let's learn more about it and its features:

What is a cartridge filter?

THE cartridge filter A cylindrical or rectangular filtration device, widely used in water purification systems, air filtration, and industrial processes. It can be produced in various materials, such as cellulose, activated carbon, polypropylene, polyester, nanofiber, and others. It always depends on the type of filtration required.

Because it has the capacity to retain dry and solid particles, the cartridge filter is also suitable for structures and equipment, such as powder coating booths, sandblasting systems, industrial equipment in various areas (ceramics, cement, agricultural, for example), foundries, exhaust systems, metallization, air conditioning, among other processes.

How a cartridge filter works

The air or gas to be filtered is pressed through the cartridge's filter media, which retains the particles and impurities present, allowing the filtered air or gas to pass through the filter, free of impurities.

Periodically, the cartridge needs to be changed or cleaned, depending on the type of filter media used and the amount of impurities present in the air or gas to be filtered.

Advantages of using a cartridge filter

THE cartridge filter It's one of the most widely used filters in industrial environments, and for good reason. It combines two very important characteristics for any company: efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Due to their characteristics, cartridge filters can be manufactured in various sizes and filtration levels. Furthermore, their function of reducing the velocity of contaminated air is essential for achieving high-quality final products.

Another factor is cost-effectiveness. When used with electronically programmed high-pressure reverse-flow air jets, the cartridge filter will maintain optimal performance for many cycles, thus reducing maintenance costs.
