The 497 Fast Cut Abrasive Gel Virtus is a polishing compound from the Virtus line, developed and manufactured in Italy for professional finishing processes in auto body shops. Its speed comes from two factors: it cuts efficiently and performs cutting and polishing in a single pass, reducing steps and service time.
The product has a paste-like consistency, a green color, and a black musk odor. It is a non-flammable mixture.
What is the purpose of Virtus 497 Fast Cut Abrasive Gel?
497 is indicated for removing sanding marks in the P1500 to P2000 range. It eliminates these marks and, in the same process, provides polishing and finishing. In many services, the workshop eliminates a separate refining step.
Where does 497 enter the Virtus abrasiveness scale?
The Virtus line is organized into five levels of abrasiveness, from highest to lowest cutting power. The 497 is in... Level 3/5 – Medium cut and polish in one step., along with the 487EXT, the 484 and the 486.
- Above him (levels 5/5 and 4/5): 401, 415 and 483, for deep scratches and heavier sanding marks (P600 to P1500)
- Below him (levels 2/5 and 1/5): 438IM, 439IM, 472 and 474, for a hologram-free finish and maximum shine.
If the paint has marks thicker than P1500, it's best to start with a more abrasive level and work your way up to 497. The rule of thumb is always to work from a higher level to a lower one.
Recommended berets
The recommendation is to use the 497 with black foam interface pad and brown foam beret (One Step).
